It is with the deepest regret that we inform our family of friends, sponsors and supporters of the untimely death of Kathi Free.

 
 

For the past twenty years, Kathi has served as the heart and soul of the Celebrate Freedom Foundation. She was our Business Manager, Treasurer, and member of the Board of Director. She will be greatly missed


The funeral services for Kathi Ouzts Free, 65, of Columbia, will be held on Friday, May 18, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063. The Reverend Dr. Tim Phillips will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209. The family will receive friends from 1:00-1:50 p.m. at the church.

Kathi O. Free, widow of the late, Mike Free was born in Greenwood, SC on September 13, 1952, Kathi was the daughter of the late Reverend Joseph Alton Ouzts and Doris Nell Gibson Ouzts. She passed away on May 13, 2018, she was a graduate of Greenwood High School and had attended Lander University. Kathi was a member of Riverland Hill Baptist Church as well as a member of SOS Sunday School Class. She had worked for South Carolina State Government for over 30 years. Kathi was a member of the Emergency Response Team with the Budget and Control Board, she also helped to draft the Legislative Manual. She also worked at Self Memorial Hospital in Greenwood, SC, Kathi played the piano for the residents of the Saluda Nursing Home while her late parents were residing there. She loved her country and was a true patriot where she was employed as the Executive Administrator of the Celebrate Freedom Foundation at the time of her death.

Surviving are her daughter, Kelley Free Pettibone (Jeremy) of Lexington, Stacey Free-Branham of Irmo and Melanie Free Rollings of Columbia; sister, Linda Owens of Greenwood; brother, Alton Ouzts (Judy) of Ninety-Six; grandchildren, Bekah, Caitey, Jake, Sammey, and Averly. As well as a number of special nieces and nephews. Those who preceded her in death, besides her parents; son-in-law, Greg Rollings
