Students Use STEM Skills for Lena Restoration

Members of U.S. Army Recruiting Command and students from the Applied Technology Education Campus unveiled a restored Army helicopter November 10, 2015 in Camden, South Carolina.

Brig. Gen. Troy Kok, the deputy commanding general for Army Recruiting, along with members of the Army Recruiting Battalion Columbia and over 30 students who refurbished and painted the helicopter, will be present to unveil the Celebrate Freedom Foundation’s latest Army AH-1F Cobra.

ATEC’s auto collision, welding and graphic design classes used a tedious 16-step process to clean, restore and paint the Vietnam, Desert Storm and Bosnia combat veteran helicopter as a semester project.
